How to design automatic sliding doors quickly and with success virtually assured:

The new “DORMA door-select” planning tool

The planning of pending projects, whether they be new builds or renovations, usually has to be carried out under considerable time and cost restraints – so solutions need to be found quickly and, in particular, cost-effectively. Complex items such as automatic sliding doors require extensive knowledge not just of the system overall, but also of details such as the door functions, mechanical design and safety and anti-tamper aspects that need to be carefully combined in order to arrive at a viable design. Under the time pressures that prevail, one or other aspect may thus be overlooked, with the result that the system is not perhaps quite as good as it might have been or – even worse – requires costly rework.

Following the successful presentation by DORMA-Glas of its electronic design software package for glass partitions and doors – DGES – at the glasstec show, the Automatic division of DORMA is launching its own electronic configurator “DORMA door-select” at BAU in Munich. It offers this software tool as the answer to ensuring the successful and reliable design of automatic sliding doors made up of extensively standardised components from the DORMA Selection product range.

The DORMA Selection line constitutes a compendium of preferred products for automatic sliding doors covering 80 – 90 % of the usual requirements placed on these items.
